We all have those songs that mean something to us. The songs that you hear, and your mood instantly changes. It may be the song you heard driving in the car with your mom on your way to school; it may be the song that you heard after your first break-up; or it could be the song that you heard during girl’s night with your best friend. Isn’t it unbelievable how some words and a few notes of music can cause such a huge impact on a person’s life?
Music is such a gift. Which is an odd concept, you know… considering it’s this intangible thing… but it has the ability to have such an influence on our mind and our hearts. Personally, my favorites are sad (kind of sappy) songs. I am the type of person that finds a lot of enjoyment out of listening to songs that have a more genuine heartbreak sort of tone. But I believe, it’s because they have so much feeling and thought put into them. When I listen to a song for the first time, I listen to the lyrics and try to make sense of what the message of the song is. I find some relation when listening to a sad song which will just attract me more to it. I’ve found that that’s not how we all interpret music. Many people solely listen to the music and don’t really care what the lyrics say, etc. I’m always fascinated that artists can sing about the same thing yet have such an original and unique way to portray it through music.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I am by no an expert on music or songs or even the various genres. I simply want to send appreciation to the songs and the artists who have impacted a soul with their art. I think it’s a beautiful thing to have music as an outlet of expression or therapy or anything for that matter, because we have this combination of words and music that make someone’s day a little brighter or makes them feel like they’re not the only person in this world feeling the way that they do. And to me, I’m in awe thinking about that. So go, listen to that song that makes you feel your deepest feelings. Allow yourself to get chills. Appreciate that ache in your heart from loving a song so much. It’s powerful for sure.
Thanks for reading. 😊
